Let's Do Charity Work: 1000 scarves or yarn donations

Couple weeks ago Sr. Janice forwarded flyer regarding 1000 scarves to be knitted for unfortunate people. Those scarves must be delivered on mid November 2006.

As a starting point Sr. Faridah and me decided to make scarves. Sr. Faridah will do some crochet scarves and I'm going to make knitted scarves. For those who can't make scarves can contribute some yarns or money to purchase yarn and we'll be happy to make it into scarves... Insya Allah... I believe we won't make 1000 scarves but at least we can help other unfortunate people around us.

As for today we've collected 5 handmade scarves and we're still looking for some crafty volunteer crocheter/knitter to help the amount of scarves reach it's goal.
All scarves and yarn will be collected at Sr. Faridah's place and will be send out to designated organization. For more information about this program you can call her at (425)522-4366 or send an e-mail to assyifa_blog@yahoo.com.

Please help this program.....jazakallah khair...

The flyer as follows:
A CHARITY CAMPAIGN IS ON!

Help us reach our goal of Knitting 1000 Scarves for the Homeless in Seattle

Knitters, donated yarn and scarves are needed!

We are asking for commitments from different religious or service organizations, seniors, youth or schools along with any interested knitters that want to contribute to keeping the homeless warmer this upcoming winter while awaiting housing.

There are children, women and men ALL in need of housing and wait in lines every day for food and assistance. These scarves will help keep the chill off their necks also a gift brightens everyone's day!
These scarves represent that the knitters and contributors are aware of Homelessness and that there is a desperate need formore low income housing for all populations.

This is underway with 100% volunteer effort –no paid staff, just concerned individuals who are working to see homelessness end.

*Thank you for your contributions of yarn, knitters, knitting instructors, finished scarves.

Please help us meet our goal of 1000 scarves by mid-November 2006.

We can all make a difference.

For more information write to warmforwinter@yahoo.com or leave message at 206-675-2672.

Please call or write with scarf # commitments or to donate needed yarn.
Thank you for bringing awareness to the fact that homelessness exists
and that we are all able to make a positive difference.

Please pass on this flyer to any interested knitters or contributors!
